Leaked Galaxy Premier Specs say it’s GT-i9260

There have been rumors of a new Galaxy Nexus being in the works at Samsung with improvements to the original Galaxy Nexus, and now the specs of a Galaxy Premier have been leaked, which has the model number GT-i9260 and might be the extended version of the Galaxy Nexus, which goes by the model number i9250.

Perhaps what is most important is the presence of external microSD card support, which is something Google is against putting in the Nexus line, so it might be that this is a variant specially made by Samsung on their own whim. However, one suspicious part of the specs indicate a single-core Qualcomm MSM7227A-1 1GHz processor, which seems very doubtful considering that would be a major downgrade, so this news is best taken with quite a few pinches of salt, as previous rumors suggested an upgraded 1.5 GHz dual-core processor from the 1.2GHz on the original Galaxy Nexus. The camera however will apparently see an upgrade to a 8 MP rear and 1.9 MP front camera (similar to the Galaxy S3), with other specs such as the display remaining the same.

Here are the full specs currently rumored:

  • MSM7227A-1 Turbo Single 1GHz
  • 4.65” Super AMOLED HD
  • 8MP rear cam (1.9 MP front camera)
  • Wi-Fi 80211 a/b/g/n, HSDPA 7.2/5.76 900/2100, EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900
  • 8 GB/16 GB internal storage + microSD (up to64 GB)
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • A-GPS, BT 4.0
  • Battery TBD (to be determined)

Again, keeping that low-end processor in mind, this news is best regarded as only a rumor and nothing more, though the existence of a microSD slot would be welcoming news. What do you think? Is Samsung working on a mini Galaxy Nexus without any influence from Google? Do let us know in the comments!
