Install CWM Recovery On Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus GT-S7580 Using Odin

  WARNING!

Warranty may be void of your device if you follow the procedures given on this page.

You only are responsible for your device. We won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.

GUIDE: INSTALL CWM ON SAMSUNG GALAXY TREND PLUS

Before you begin with the instructions below, make sure your android device is adequately charged — at least 50% battery of the device.

STEP 0: CHECK DEVICE MODEL NO.

To make sure your device is eligible with this, you must first confirm its model no. in ‘About device’ option under Settings. Another way to confirm model no. is by looking for it on the packaging box of your device. It must be GT-S7580!

Please know that this page is meant only for Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus. Please DO NOT try the procedures given here on any other device of Samsung or any other company. You have been Warned!

  STEP 1: BACKUP YOUR DEVICE

Back up important data and stuff before you start playing around here as there are chances you might lose your apps and app-data (app settings, game progress, etc.), and in rare case, files on the internal memory, too.

For help on Backup and Restore, check out our exclusive page on that linked right below.

  STEP 2: INSTALL LATEST DRIVER

You must have proper and working driver installed on your windows computer to be able to successfully flash recovery on your Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus.

In case you’re not sure, follow the link below for a definitive guide for installing driver for your Samsung device on your computer.

   STEP 3: INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  DOWNLOADS

Download the files given below and transfer it to a separate folder on your computer (just to keep things tidy, that is).

  CWM RECOVERY FILE

DOWNLOAD LINK | File name: CWM_6.0.3.7_notouch_GalaxyTrendPlus_s7580_bdc_v0.2.zip (6.62 MB)

  ODIN ZIP FILE

DOWNLOAD LINK | File name: Odin_v3.09.zip (972 KB)

  STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Example video: If you haven’t used Odin before to flash a file on your phone before, then we suggest you first watch a video of that to get familiar with the process. The video demonstrates flashing of a Recovery on Galaxy S3, but since the procedure is same, the video will help: Click here to watch the video

Important Note: Backup important files stored on internal SD card of your device, so that in case a situation arises requiring you to do a factory reset after flashing the CWM Recovery, which might delete internal sd card too, your files will remain safe on PC.

  1. Extract/Unzip the Odin zip file, Latest Odin_ v3.09.zip on your computer (using 7-zip free software, preferably) to get the following files:
    • Odin3 v3.09.exe
    • Odin3.ini
  2. Extract/Unzip the CWM file, CWM_6.0.3.7_notouch_GalaxyTrendPlus_s7580_bdc_v0.2.zip to the same folder in which you extracted Latest Odin_v3.09.zip (Just for your convenience, that is). So, now you’ll have the following files in that folder:
    • Odin3 v3.09.exe
    • Odin3.ini
    • recovery.tar.md5
  3. Disconnect the Galaxy Trend Plus from PC if it is connected.
  4. Double-click the Odin3-v3.09.exe file to open Odin.
  5. Boot your Galaxy Trend Plus into Download Mode:
    1. Power off your phone first. Wait for 6-7 seconds after display is off.
    2. Press and hold these 3 buttons together until you see Warning! screen: Volume Down + Power + Home.
    3. Press Volume Up now to continue to Download Mode.
  6. Connect your Galaxy Trend Plus to PC. Odin window will show an Added!! message in bottom left box. Odin’s screen would look like this:Odin 3.09 - Samsung-Galaxy-Odin-Device-Added-Screenshot
If you don’t get the Added! message, here are some troubleshooting tips:
    • Make sure you have installed driver for Galaxy Trend Plus as said above in ‘Before you begin..’ section.
    • If you have already installed driver, then uninstall them and reinstall back.
    • Connect using a different USB port on your PC.
    • Try a different USB cable. The original cable that came with your phone should work best, if not, try any other cable that’s new and of good quality.
    • Reboot your phone and PC and then try again.
  7. Load the recovery file in .tar.md5 form into Odin as instructed below:
    • Click on the AP button on Odin and select the recovery.tar.md5 file (from step 2). Your Odin window should look like the screenshot below:samsung-galaxy-trend-plus-cwm-recovery-odin-file
  8. Now in the Option section of Odin, make sure that Re-Partition box is unchecked. (Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time boxes remain checked, while all other boxes remain unchecked.)
  9. Double check the above two steps. (Step 7 and Step 8)
  10. Click the Start button to begin flashing, and wait until you see a PASS! message in Odin’s top left box.
  11. When you get PASS! message, your device will restart automatically. You can then disconnect your phone from PC.Odin 3.09 - Samsung-Galaxy-Odin-PASS-screenshot

If you see FAIL message instead of the PASS in Odin’s top left box, that’s a problem. Try this now: disconnect your Galaxy Trend Plus from PC, close Odin, remove phone’s battery and put it back inside in 3-4 seconds, open Odin and then repeat from Step 3 of this guide again.

Also, If device is Stuck at setup connection or on any other process, then too, try this: disconnect your Galaxy Trend Plus from PC, close Odin, remove phone’s battery and put it back inside in 3-4 seconds, open Odin and then repeat from Step 3 of this guide again.

That’s all. If you need help regarding this, feel free to ask us in comments below.

  12. Hi. Hope someone can help me. I’m pretty new to all this, and would appreciated any help.

Is it possible to upload a bootloader file / Stock ROM thru Odin? If so, how? (As I’m a noob, detailed instructions would be most welcome) I couldn’t find a repository of bootloader .md5 files anywhere

I had a new unlocked Samsung galaxy trend plus GT-S7580L, that I suspect I’ve softbricked… (How I managed this: I made a backup in Kies, then used Odin 3.07 to flash CWM 6.0.3.7, rooted with SU 1.34. I then backed up thru CWM recovery – all with no errors and had a rooted phone that I was able to disable / delete unwanted apps. Stupidly, I I then tried to restore a backup, just to check that it worked, and had a mount error . Thereafter my phone was stuck in a bootloop. At 1st I could access recovery menu and download menu, and I I tried restoring backups from Kies, CWM, and also tried istalling stock ROM and a modified ROM, none of which worked – all aborted with errors. And somehow got it in a bootloop error.) After hours of trying all sorts of fixes from different forums, I fear it is a paperweight.

Now I can now longer open any recovery menu (Holding vol up / home / power simply hangs the phone with a small red exclamation point in the top left of the screen). I do still have the ability to connect to Odin, (holding down vol down / home / power, allows it to reboot into ‘download’ menu – and have been able to upload the CWM tar.md5 file successfully, but this does not repair the bootloop. My phone cannot turn off, keeps restarting, hanging on the startup screen. Kies no longer recognises when the phone is plugged in even.

Is there anyway to restore bootloader / stock ROM / any ROM from Odin alone?
Thanks in advance for any help

    1. You can try flashing a stock firmware using Odin, if you haven’t yet done that. Just download the firmware for your region from this link http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-S7580. And then use our guide on how to flash a firmware using Odin, using this page http://nerdschalk.com/flash-firmwares-using-odin-57044/

      Hope that helps.

  15. Hello,

in my case everthing works fine until step 10. Then my problem: the phone doesn’t restart automatically. It still shows :
    Downloading…
Do not turn off target !!
And have a blue bar, which has reached the end.
I have waited over 30 minutes. Nothing happened! What now?
