Instagram for PC goes live, uploading and editing not available for now

There’s news from the Instagram camp for android users who swear by their Instagram app — your profiles are being made live on the Instagram website even as you read this. Chances are you already have your profile live. You can check it out at http://www.instagram.com/your_username

Don’t panic if it gives you get a message saying ‘This profile will be available soon’, there over a 100 million users to cater too.

The web page of the user profile on Instagram is quite similar to its structure and layout to that of Facebook. It does provide for a thumbnail, actually passport size, profile picture with a timeline background. While you can change your profile picture from your webpage, there is nothing you can do about the background strip of assorted images, as they are sorted chronologically. You can also edit information about your bio and, quite in the Facebook fashion like and comment on other’s images.

However as of now, you cannot edit and upload pictures to your profile via the web. Bummer?

But Kevin Systrom, one of the founders of Instagram, promises that there is work in progress on the web functionality of Instagram and users can look forward to constant surprises. Sure this would fire up Instagram as yet another social network, but did we really need one more of it. More so, even Twitter is feeling the heat of Instagram and has reportedly decided to chalk out an update to their twitter android app, which will have photo editor built in.

So, you already hopping on to instagram.com, or would like to keep your business limited to android device?
