March 15, 2019: Honor 8 users in China are receiving a new EMUI 8.0.0.540 update that not only installs February 2019 security patch but also optimizes emergency SOS.

Once this SOS feature is activated, your phone will send exact location with latitude and longitude coordinates to your contacts multiple times. The same update also adds the battery report feature and updates the pre-downloaded songs to better cater to your preference.

The update is available over the air for models FRD-AL00, FRD-AL10 and FRD-TL00.

For the longer part, Huawei Honor 8 users weren’t certain about an update to Android Oreo, but the company finally came through, with those in India having had to wait until mid-November 2018 to see the update. Still, better late than never, right?

Honor 8 Android 9 Pie update

The update to Android 8.0 Oreo was the Honor 8s second major OS upgrade, meaning its the end of the road for the popular handset as far as OS upgrades are concerned. That said, the only real chance of getting the Honor 8 to Android 9 Pie is via custom ROMs like LineageOS, although we cannot guarantee anything here.
