HTC Zeta Specs Leak — Is this the HTC’s Flagship Phone for 2012?
After the HTC Edge, which could be the first quad-core phone world might see, another HTC phone — and another quad-core device — HTC Zeta, has leaked with list of very impressive specifications, and an image hinting about its uniqueness. With HTC getting two quad-core devices leaked already, we hope other android OEMs are preparing quite well too to show-off their quad-core goods at CES in January.
Speaking of HTC Zeta — which is the codename, btw — the most impressive thing about the leaked specs to day is the presence of 2.5GHz quad-core processor — APQ8064 S4 chip, the best announced by Qualcomm. Sure, this makes dual-core phones of today look like the single core phones of last year when dual-core got announced last year. That’s the thing with tech, year by year, like clockwork. But we’re happy with it, aren’t we.
HTC Zeta Specifications
- 4.5-inch 720p HD display (no word on type, but Super LCD would be our best guess)
- 2.5GHz quad-core CPU (the best on offer by Qualcomm, APQ8064 S4 chip)
- Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) pre-installed (we think HTC’s custom UI, Sense 4.0 would also be onboard)
- Beat Audio support
- 1GB RAM
- 8MP (with dual LED flash and 1080p capable) and 1.3MP camera in back and front respectively
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Dimensions — 109.8 x 60.9 x 9.8mm (9.8mm is pretty cool — that makes it HTC’s slimmest flagship device, btw!)
- Weight – 5.15ounces (146 grams)
- 1830 mAh battery
Yes, that’s you HTC’s flagship device for the year 2012, or at least the first half of it, if not just the first quarter — going by the rate android devices up the specs ante these days.
What do you think about HTC Zeta? Shouldn’t it be less heavier — Galaxy S2 is 116g, Atrix is 135g (equals iPhone 4S), while HTC’s own Incredible S was 135g. We’re happy that HTC has made efforts in slimming the device down this time, and has successfully brought it under 10mm — 9.8mm to be exact — but is it enough? For sake of stats, Galaxy S2 is just 8.5mm while Droid Razr, released only this month, just laughs at other devices with its 7.1mm super slim body.
HTC Zeta Price
No word — official or not — is available on this. We expect the price to be $300 in US with 2 year contract required. As for the factory unlocked price, $650 budget wouldn’t let you down, if you’re planning for it.
HTC Zeta Release Date
Phew! That’s a bug guess but we’re hopeful of a April 2012 release in US and major European markets, although name could be different in US than rest of the world.
That’s it. Leave you thoughts about the HTC Zeta, about the quad-core phones, and what are your feelings for your current phone, in the comments section below — it’s always a pleasure to hear from you.
