With Samsung Galaxy Spica no more selling (yes we tried ourselves) at the local stores in India — we’re told — HTC Wildfire is ready to fill in the vacancy. We are yet to hear it officially from HTC but it would be nice time to launch the phone in Android 2.1 hungry India, which got only Samsung Galaxy S with super 1Ghz processor along side Android 2.1.

But Galaxy S costs around INR 30000 ($643) while HTC Wildfire at INR 16000 ($343) will become the cheapest android 2.1 phone in India.

Features wise, HTC Wildfire is decent and comes with major improvements from Samsung’s Spica. It features a 3.2 inch QVGA capacitive touch screen running Android 2.1 (topped with HTC Sense), 528 Mhz Processor, 512 MB ROM, 384 MB RAM, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, 5.0 megapixel camera (with auto focus and geotagging) and 3.5 mm audio jack. The 1300 mAh battery promises 8 hours of talktime and 480 hours of standby time on 2G network. Not bad, No?

HTC Wildfire India launch

The phone is not listed on HTC India website as of now, but we hope it gets its share of space very soon. What do you think? Is it an ideal rightly priced android phone, you were seeking for? Lets hear it in comments.

BTW, stay tuned for more on this.

I’m a ‘soon-to-be’ htc wildfire user from Kenya. I’ve been doing some analysis on this phone and i’ve found it to be the most effective budget-smartphone.I am now able to order it, unlocked clearly, since it hasn’t yet started being offerd in my country. The one huddle but to be falt with is findinga reputable company prepared to export overseas, particularly to Africa. So far the one website i’ve discovered is expansys.co.uk.
