HTCÂ has brought in new additions to the table with the announcement of the HTC U Ultra and the U Play. The HTC U Ultra is the more powerful of the two and HTC seems to have included quite a few niche features into the device, too.
The HTC U Ultra smartphone packs in impressive specs: Qualcomm’s latest offering on the market right now, the Snapdragon 821 processor, a 5.7-inch QHD display protected by Sapphire glass, 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB of in built storage which can be expanded via MicroSD. The back of the device is glass and emanates an altogether glossy look which follows HTC new design aspect called Liquid surface. But the Sapphire glass variant will be an exclusive product and will be launched later on.
The camera included here seems to have been borrowed from last year’s flagship, the HTC 10, and is a 12MP ultrapixel sensor which provides the smartphone good low light performance. The front facing shooter is a 16MP sensor which also has an ultra pixel tech. All of this is backed up by a 3000mAh battery, which could provide enough juice for the day given that high resolution display.
On the software front HTC has incorporated its new Sense Companion assistant into the U Ultra. With the help of four extra always-on microphones, the device will be always aware in order to reply quickly to voice commands. This isn’t anything new as it was first showcased on the first gen Moto X.
The attention-grabbing addition in the HTC U Ultra is the secondary display found on top of the device. This is kind of similar to what you find on the LG V20 too. The secondary display aids in providing not only notifications but also reminders and notifications from the Sense Companion AI.
The U Ultra comes in black, pink, white and Sapphire blue and is expected to be priced at $749. it’s available for pre-order on HTC USA, and is set for release in mid-March. The device will of course be shipping with Android 7.0 Nougat.
