HTC Desire 626 official in Taiwan, looks to shadows Moto G in mid-range segment

Been spotted recently and as per the specifications rumored earlier, HTC has finally made the Desire 626 official in Taiwan, in direct competition to Moto G, the success story HTC is trying to achieve with its own offering. Costing NT$5990, around $190, it costs about the same as Moto G, and its specsheet is unsurprisingly similar too.

HTC Desire 626 features a 5-inch screen HD display with 720 x 1280 pixels, and houses a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, and 1GB RAM. Although, we’re quite used to with 2GB RAM on board offerings under this range, the major OEMs still seem content with 1GB. The front of HTC Desire 626 houses a 5MP camera along with dual speakers, whereas at the back, you’d find a 13MP shooter.

Other features that make Desire 626 stand out in mid-range category include LTE connectivity, internal memory of 16GB and a 2000mAh battery. The Desire 626 supports DotView cases, which is certainly one great accessory. There’s no mention as such on which Android version the Desire 626 would be operating, but Android 4.4.4 KitKat is most likely. While Motorola has already pushed the Lollipop update to its Moto G, HTC being HTC, would take a long time in upgrading the Desire 626 to Lollipop, as only its flagships of last two years, HTC One M7 and M8, are in the processor of receiving it.

The device is available in two alternative colours: blue and white colour. The aesthetics is where HTC Desire scores over Moto G, btw. In fact, it looks the best under its range, except for our favorite in Asus Zenfone 5.

A variant of HTC Desire 626 is also said to be in line, powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor, targeted for none other than China. HTC gaze at achieving at least 25% market share in the current scenario, and hopefully handsets like Desire 626 will live  up to the mark. It’s not possible to say at the moment whether HTC Desire 626 will be introduced in other countries as well but it should at least launch very soon in India, a major hub for mid-range handsets.

Stay tuned for more info, guys!
