How to take a screenshot on Galaxy S8 and S8+

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is a lot different from the previous Galaxy S series flagship phones. And one the most significant change on the Galaxy S8 is the removal of hardware buttons for home, back and recents key. Galaxy S8 now features on-screen softkeys to navigate through the phone just like Google’s Pixel and Nexus devices does.

However, with this change also comes a change in the way you take screenshots on a Samsung phone. Until now, to take a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy phone you had to press the Power and Home button together. But that changes with Galaxy S8 because there’s no longer a physical home button.

To take a screenshot on Galaxy S8, you’d have to press and hold Power and Volume Down button together.

  3. If you see an animation on-screen, that means screenshot has been taken and saved to your phone’s gallery.
  4. If you want to access the screenshot quickly, pull down the notification bar and you’ll see the captured screenshot there.

Apparently, Samsung recently enabled an extra screenshot feature for its devices — scrolling screenshot. This feature enables you take screenshot of the entire page that is open on your device’s screen; be it a Webpage, WhatsApp conversation, or a long email from an old friend. With scrolling screenshot you can capture it all in one shot.

  1. I remember a swipe from edge function that allowed the scrolling screenshot. Is that gone?
