How to Save Email Attachments on Android from the Gmail or Email Android App

Save my Attach Android App

Save my Attach is a nice utility android app that allows saving an attachment from the Email and Gmail android apps. To download an attachment, open your mail app, hit the preview button in the mail and select ‘save my attach’ option.

Android Market has got hell lot of applications that can make your life easier than before. One of them that caught our attention today is the ‘Save my Attach’ app that can save the attachments in your mail, pretty neat and easy.

All you need to do is download the “Save my Attach” android app — totally Free — from the android market. For that, either scan the QR Code below with the barcode scanner app or if you’re on phone, hit the market link link below.

Download Save my Attach

In case you’re wondering, ‘Save my Attach’ is compatible with all android versions.

Once you’ve installed the app, it becomes very easy to download any attachment in the mail. Just hit the preview button and from the pop-up that appears then, select “save my attach” option. There is an option to rename your attachment right from there, which is very well thought option by the app’s developer, Lexa.

You can download any sort of file from the app — pics, mp3s, pdf, etc

We hope ‘Save my Attach’ does its job for you, but in case you face a problem or two, let us know in the comments below. If you think there are some features lacked in the app, feel free to write in comments, we’ll take it to developer, for sure.

  3. Just tried the ‘sdave my attach’ and it works great. For anyone with a new phone (I’ve just moved from blackberry to samsung s2), go to the app marked ‘market’ and do a search for ‘save my app’ – it installs really easily, and then when you go to the email attachment, you select ‘save my attach’ – you can rename the attachment – and if its a picture (as my first one was) if you leave as default, it saves to the ‘gallery’ as ‘dowload’.

    Hope this is useful 🙂

  5. Seems like a nice solution to a total no-brainer issue (wth where they thinking?), but on my Defy+, it just tells me that “The attachment could not be downloaded because this type of file cannot be displayed on the phone”. Shame.

  9. This may sound stupid, but I have installed the application, and still I don’t see any options in my mail app to save the attachment. HTC Explorer, Gingerbread 2.3.5 I tried the various menus, and restarted the phone…any suggestions?

  10. Forgot to mention, this happen both with the native mail program, and with the Yahoo-mail program. I don’t use Gmail

  15. I downloaded “Save My Attach” to my Android today. I then sent (in 2 separate emails) two file attachments to my gmail account and accessed them both from my Android gmail app. The “Save My Attach” program seemed to work fine with the first file type of .mp3, but I got an error stating “Sorry, the attachment could not be downloaded” with the second file type of .flv (a VLC file). And, yes, I double-checked that I clicked on “Preview” and not “Download”.  Any ideas as to what might be going on?
