Disable lagfix on Galaxy S i9000 [Instructions]

While flashing new ROMs on your Galaxy S i9000, it’s generally recommended to disable any lagfixes you’ve previously applied on your phone because a lagfix might cause error in flashing a new ROM or make the new ROM incompatible. So below is a full guide on how to disable lagfix on your phone.

We’ve so far two lagfixes on Galaxy S i9000:

  1. Voodoo kernel
  2. Speedmod kernel

Disabling lagfix on Voodoo kernel:

  1. Switch off your phone [wait until it vibrates]
  2. Go into recovery mode by pressing the three button combo – “VOLUME UP key + HOME key + Power key”
  3. Scroll down to “Voodoo Lagfix” using Volume down button, and press Power button to select it.
  4. Select “disable lagfix
  5. Select “/system lagfix off
  6. Now select “Go Back”, and then “Reboot system now
  7. Your phone will now reboot.

During reboot the phone might make weird sounds, but don’t freak, it’s part of the process, also this reboot might take a few minutes more than usual reboot.

Disabling lagfix on Speedmod kernel:

  1. Switch off your phone [wait until it vibrates]
  2. Go into recovery mode by pressing the three button combo – “VOLUME UP key + HOME key + Power key”
  3. Select “advanced Speedmod ULK features
  4. Select “LAGFIX options
  5. Select “Disable Lagfix: Convert DATA to RFS
  6. Select “Convert SYSTEM to Ext4/RFS”   –>—>  then select Yes.
  7. Select “Go back”, and then again “Go Back
  8. Now select “Reboot system now” to reboot your phone
  9. In the next screen you’ll get a message like “SYSTEM Conversion requested”. Here, select the option “RFS: Convert to RFS
  10. The phone will reboot — and in a few minutes — display a message like “New filesystem config detected. Convert?” Select Yes.
  11. Your phone will reboot and lagfix will now be disabled.

During reboot the phone might make weird sounds, but don’t freak, it’s part of the process, also this reboot might take a few minutes more than usual reboot.

  1. After upgrading to the latest Gingerbread release, I can’t seem to go to the Recovery mode again. As hard as I tried, it just won’t work. I’ve even tried doing it via apps such as Quick Boot and ROM Manager, it’ll just reboot and display the Galaxy S start-up screen. My GIngerbread is the one without the bootscreen.

Any other ways I should try?

    1. Well, just hold on. I am working on a post on “how to root and install clockworkmod recovery on Android 2.3.3”. You will get the post tomorrow. So, plz wait.
