Google’s “Fetch as Google” tool now shows Request Indexing button, and a notice for quality guideline

While Google does good at indexing our website, it sometimes fails to index the updated content on our previously published posts. To get around this, we use the Fetch as Google tool from Google Webmasters Console.

And just now, while making a submission we noticed a slight change in the submission options on the tool. Instead of Submit to index button, the Fetch as Google tool now shows “Request indexing” button when you submit a url via the tool.

Also, Google has put up a notice that reads “The page will be considered for indexing only if it meets our guidelines and avoids the use of noindex directives” on the pop-up window that appears when you chose an indexing method for the URL you requested to be indexed.

In addition to all this, your previously submitted URLs now also shows Indexing requested  status instead of the previous Submitted to index message.

This of-course has nothing to do with Android, but we like Google and all things it does including such small/little changes to its vast range of services.

  1. Thanks for the info. I got freaked out seeing this and thought I have got some sort of penalty/restriction. Now it seems more like an ui adjustment and since it is happening with every webmaster I am glad.
