Google Nexus 7 Price in UK drops to £180

Facing the imminent release of similar sized competition in the iPad 3 next week, as well as a potential phase-out due to the  launch of Google’s own 32GB version of itself, the Nexus 7 16GB version has got a price drop in the UK. Originally priced at £199,

Comet, a UK based online retailer is offering a £19 off, post application of check-out code 5VC, driving the effective price down to £180, which happens to be just £20 more than the basic 8 GB version of the same tablet. While the 32 GB version has not been confirmed yet, and there is good reason to believe that Google may make an announcement during its October 29th event in New York, if you’ve been really wanting to get one of these, and don’t care too much about having more than 16GB storage, this could work out to be a great deal. And if all the rumours about the 16GB version getting retired once the 32GB slate hits the counters, then now is a good time to get it.

The Asus manufactured, Google Nexus 7 comes with the  1.2GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core chip, 1GB RAM, a 1,280 x 800 resolution 7 inch display, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device has just received the official Google update to the latest version of Jelly Bean – Android 4.1.2 a few days ago, and if you do go for this tablet, you would be one the lucky few who are now running, and will be one of the first to get the upgrade to Android 4.2, direct from Google, much, much before the other shiny devices out there even begin to be considered for the upgrade.
