Google introduces ‘Style Ideas’ in Image search

Just a couple of days ago, Google added a new feature called “Similar Items” to its Image Search capabilities which would essentially point users to products like handbags, shoes, and sunglasses.

Today, the search engine giant is expanding the feature to apparel as well. While the company is at it, it has also introduced a new feature called “Style Ideas.” The idea behind it is to depict how the product you’ve been browsing for can be used in real life.

Let’s say you are searching for a pair of jeans, Google’s Image Search will automatically expose you to how the product can be worn along with other real-life options that could match with the product you have been searching for. Further, prices of the product in question will also be displayed on the same page.

The search engine giant explains that “Style Ideas” are algorithmically ranked with lots of things like the type of a product, the completeness of an image, and the like taken into consideration.

Currently, the feature is only available on mobile phones. You can check out the new feature either on mobile web or on the Google Search Android app.

  1. That’s certainly an interesting concept from Google. I have some friends who would love this app.
