Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are now Google Daydream VR compatible. While the earlier updates pushed by Samsung for the these two sets had brought the necessary bits to make the most popular Android handsets right now ready for Daydream VR, Google today has activated the Daydream support for these two devices. In case you’re wondering, yes, this is server based compatibility thing, as hardware was always present.
Notably, an update pushed by Verizon carrier to Galaxy S8 and S8+ on its network last month brought support for the Google Daydream VR followed by T-Mobile releasing an update, the changelog of which showed Daydream VR compatibility. However, this feature remained disabled up until now.

Now, Google has confirmed the release of Daydream VR support to Galaxy S8 and S8+. As the rollout isn’t happening as an OTA update, because it’s server-side, the company has said that it ‘will take time to finish rolling out’. Therefore, do not fret if you are unable to see the Daydream app on your S8 or S8 Plus just yet.
Alternately, you can try clearing all data from the Google VR Services application as doing this has enabled Daydream VR on S8, as per a user on Reddit.
