Get LG L90 Marshmallow update via CM13 ROM

Not many users might know of LG L90, but there are some who ares till living their lives with it. Well we have really good news for them all: the Android 6.0 is now available unofficially for the LG L90.

The Marshmallow update for L90 comes in the form of a custom ROM, the CM13, most popular ROM to date.

The CM13 ROM is based on Android 6.0 code that Google releases under AOSP, and thus brings pure Android experience. You won’t find LG bloatware there, at all.

But because this is unofficial, you need a custom recovery like TWRP installed on your device.

If you are wondering about an official Marshmallow update from LG, then forget that, as it’s not gonna happen for the LG L90.

Even though LG might be first to bring Marshmallow update to its G4, the company has no thoughts of coming out with such an update for L90.

Backup!

Backup important files stored on your device before proceeding with the steps below, so that in case something goes wrong you’ll have backup of all your important files.

How to Install

Required: You will need to have TWRP recovery installed on your device to be able to install Marshmallow custom ROM and Google Apps (Gapps). You can download the TWRP recovery from here, and flash it using our guide on LG Nexus 5 here.

→ Also make sure that you are on KitKat before doing this. That’s because it helps when before installing an AOSP ROM like this, you are on stock LG ROM, as this keeps SIM working.

Step 1. Download the Marshmallow ROM from above.

Step 2. Connect your device to PC and transfer the ROM to it. Disconnect the device then. Remember the location of the files.

Step 3. Boot your LG L90 into recovery mode. If you are rooted, you can use Quick Boot app from play store.

You will enter recovery mode soon, and should see TWRP recovery. If you see an Android with an exclamation mark, then you need to install TWRP recovery for this (linked above).

Step 4. [Optional] Once in TWRP, create a backup of your device. Tap on Backup, and then select all the partitions for back. Now do the swipe action at bottom to start creating a backup for emergency cases. This backup is really a lifesaver!

Step 5. Do a Factory Reset. On TWRP’s main screen, tap on Wipe, then advanced wipe, and now make sure you have selected these partitions: dalvik cache, data, system and cache. Then do the Swipe action at bottom to confirm it.

Step 6. Now, install the ROM file. On TWRP’s homescreen, tap on Install, and then locate the ROM file and tap on it. Then do the Swipe action at bottom to begin flashing the update.

Step 7. When it’s done, tap on Reboot system button to restart the device.

That’s it.
