Galaxy S8+ variant with 6GB RAM to release in Hong Kong as well

After the launch of Galaxy S8+ 6GB in Korea followed by mainland China, Samsung will be bringing the premium variant of the flagship smartphone to Hong Kong, the company has announced officially.

The announcement was made by Samsung in Hong Kong on the sidelines of an event held there to launch Samsung Pay. It further stated that the Galaxy S8+, with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, which will make its way to Hong Kong will be be unlocked, unlike the ones released in Korea and China.

The unlocked Galaxy S8+ 6GB, thus released in Hong Kong, will allow users to use it elsewhere which unfortunately is not the case with the Korean and Chinese variants of 6GB S8+. And in all probability, we might soon see eBay selling the 6GB Galaxy S8+.

Samsung released Galaxy S8+ alongside Galaxy S8 on March 29th in two models — one carrying 4GB RAM and 64GB in-built storage and the other with 6GB RAM and 128GB native storage. This was followed by the release of the premium Galaxy S8+ model in Korea and China. While we were wondering in which other markets Samsung plans to launch the 6GB S8+, the company came up with the Hong Kong announcement.

Samsung will release the Galaxy S8+ variant with 6GB in Hong Kong on May25th. It, however, is yet to reveal the price tag for the phone.

  1. Hopefully slowly it spreads to the Indian market too? Be really great if it does as there are just more reasons for people to spend extra and get the S8+ and as usual the ebay sellers who sell the 6gb will increase the price 😐 Btw I don’t mean to act like a know it all but there’s a typo there on the second para “Kong-Kong”.Hope you don’t mistake that for arrogance ,just trying to help out

    1. True! Even I hope that I’ll launch in some other markets including India too!

  2. I just wish they launch it globally too, this will definitely increase their sells in every country as well as gives happiness to those tech lovers who always wanted that amount of RAM on their favorite galaxy device!!

  3. I understand their strategy of selling this 6GB version in select markets where they think their sales will be high and supply will be easier. Doing the same in USA would mean them having to assemble a different variant of the same phone with the Snapdragon 835 processor and Samsung doesn’t think its lucrative enough to go for all the trouble to make this available to the rest of the world now, which is also fair. This phone will only have a narrow target, the power users and spec hungry phone buyers who wont mind shelling out the extra money to get the top of the line specifications. With an exynos processor and 6 gigs of RAM, the premium S8+ model will be more powerful than even the Xiaomi Mi6 powered by the snapgradon 835, making the S8+ the most powerful phone in the world right now. So I can see what the temptation is all about.
