Galaxy S8 OTA update rolling out in Korea which fixes red tint display problem

As promised, Samsung is pushing out a new software update to Galaxy S8 which brings a fix to the red tint display problem. The update is being rolled out as we speak to Galaxy S8 and S8+ units in South Korea. As of now, it is unclear when the update will be released outside Korea.

The Galaxy S8 units are receiving the update as build number G950NKSU1AQDG while it is arriving to S8+ devices as build number G955NKSU1AQDG. The update brings two new features.

The first is an additional setting in Adaptive Display screen mode which enables you to adjust the full screen color balance as per your requirement. The second feature introduced is a new Screen edge color balance option in the Screen mode menu letting you to adjust the colors at the edges. Unfortunately, the full-screen color settings do not work in calibrated modes. To make it work, you will have to try it out in Adaptive Display mode.

The red tint display issue surfaced a few days back when some Galaxy S8 users took to online platform to report the problem. Following this although Samsung denied the problem, it promised to roll out a software update to fix the issue and further added that in case the problem persists, the company will offer free replacement of Galaxy S8.

  1. Hopefully the issue is fixed here and Samsung doesn’t have to swap the phones ,already their profit margins seem smaller than previous years..

  2. Inconsistencies in the colour gamut of displays, especially for AMOLED screens when we are talking about such huge number of devices is not surprising, I think it isn’t a hardware malfunction and more of a software calibration issue. And confident that the updates can fix it.

  3. finally the good news that everyone was waiting for!! they will surely roll it world wide soon!!
