Galaxy S8 display has a red tint issue?

After the Note 7 fiasco, controversy has somehow managed to cling itself on to Samsung and continues to do so. The initial success registered by Samsung’s flagship smartphones Galaxy S8 and S8+ had closed the mouth of critics. And the company too had pulled out many stunts to deliver a perfect piece of cake in the form of S8 and S8+. Or may be, it wasn’t that perfect. Complaints against Galaxy S8 have already started pouring in.

Some Galaxy S8 users have complained of a reddish tint appearing on the display panels of their new phones. A few of the customers who had pre-ordered the Galaxy S8 took to online communities to express their displeasure stating that despite correcting the color display settings, their brand new S8 phones showed a reddish screen.

In the words of one user: ‘After I read articles that there are many reddish panels, I checked mine. I was also unlucky. Should I change it?’ Another user posted a photo of his S8 and asked: ‘Can you please check mine, whether this is too red or not?’

Samsung, on the other hand, dismissed the complaints saying that ‘it is not a quality problem and it can be adjusted with the phone itself.’ It further gave an offer to the affected customers to exchange their S8 handsets at the service center if they still found the appearance of reddish color on the display panel.

However, based on the view of an industry watcher, the red tint issue occurs due to the deep red technology used by Samsung to have color balance for Galaxy S8. ‘It seems they were not able to adjust the color balance well because they were in a hurry to mass produce them,’ he said.

Whatever the reason might be, it surely is a warning bell for Samsung to pull up their socks and strive hard not to let another controversy marr their rebuilt image. It should come out openly about the issue and address it quickly, at the same time, ensuring that all future Galaxy S8 handsets when released in the market do not face the same problem.

  1. Samsung has been through a lot in the past 12 months, hopefully this ‘red tint’ is a software issue and they can fix it up before the official release.

    1. True, they need to fix it before the release or they will encounter a serious loss of profit and unhappy customers who will end up giving Samsung another bad name with their dank memes lol

    2. They are. An OTA update with the fix is rolling out. 🙂

    3. Haha true, the internet crowd is hard to please and easy to anger these days. They will rain criticism down. 😀

  3. this is a problem with the AMOLED displays, the Blacks r great but white has this pinkish tint on it which really isn’t pleasant, hope Samsung resolve this issue soon so that their customers could enjoy their displays at their full glory!!

    1. Thankfully, they are releasing a SW patch which suggests it is indeed a SW issue and not HW. 🙂
