Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus update rolling out in US with May security patch and improvements to Bixby

We’ve already gone past the first week of June and the May security patch is only just making its way to the US variant of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. Samsung has also included stability improvements for the SD card and has also updated the Bixby app, which should now bring you more options.

The updates are arriving as software versions G950USQU1AQEF and G955USQU1AQEF for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus respectively. In addition to bringing you the limited but new features, the update also includes various under-the-hood performance and stability improvements. Bugs and issues from the previous builds are also ironed out with this update.

If you haven’t received the update notification yet, you can try checking manually in Settings » Software update. Samsung usually takes a couple of days to roll out a OTA update completely.

Before updating, back up all of your important data to your PC and ensure that your device has sufficient charge too. The OTA update weighs around 375MB so download over WiFi to save additional data charges from your carrier.
