Android 7.0 update for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge sets default resolution to HD (1920×1080)

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Nougat update, which was released recently, apparently defaults the resolution of the display to HD. What that means, is once you update your S7 or S7 Edge to Nougat, the screen resolution is adjusted to full HD instead of quad HD.

However, you can still change the resolution back to Quad HD by heading over to Settings » Display on the smartphone. Once adjusted and restarted, the phone will remain on Quad HD. It is only after you first update to Nougat that the display resolution is reduced.

Perhaps its a bug, but not a major one. Regular users won’t even be able to tell the difference between Full HD and Quad HD. The display still remains very sharp when in full HD resolution.

This feature was originally introduced with the late Galaxy Note 7, under Power Saving Mode. Users could manually change the resolution of the display to up to 720p so that the display doesn’t use much battery.
