Galaxy S3 Photo and Specs Leaked. Looks as Official as It Would Be on May 3

Sorry Samsung, looks like evil forces are trying to ruin the surprise you intend on showing to the world on May 3 at your much hyped Unpacked 2012 event. Some very clear pictures of the Galaxy S3 have been leaked courtesy of Sammobile, who received them in an email from one of their sources.

The tipster mentions that the device is the Galaxy S3 and will sport the model number GT-I9300 (as rumored many a times before), and will be available a week after the official announcement of the device on May 3. The phone will also have a 12 megapixel camera at the back. As you can see from the image above, the phone has a covering around the edges to hide the actual design. There’s an LED at the top which means that Samsung could finally have decided to add a notification LED, which has been sorely missing from mostly all Samsung made Android devices.

An image of the About screen from the phone shows that it will be running the latest Android 4.0.4 out of the box, and the pictured device seems to be running a Brazilian firmware according to Sammobile (UB = code for Brazil) but it could also be a generic firmware. And of course, the device sports a physical home button which we seriously hope will disappear in the final design in favour of the virtual on-screen navigation buttons.

Also, the tipster claims that Samsung will also be showing off other devices at the event, such as the GT-I9800. So, just two days before the official announcement, it seems Samsung’s Next Galaxy showcase might not be as big a surprise Samsung hoped it to be. What do you think? Are you ready to accept the Galaxy S3 as is shown in the pictures above, or were you hoping for an even better design? Let us know in the comments.

  1. ugliest Android phone i have seen in a long time !

    1. Yes. If this is the final design, I’m not sure how better it will look even after removing the plastic cover on the edges.
