Galaxy S2 Plus appears on Antutu benchmark, reminds us of its existence somewhere

A little over a month ago, there were rumours of an enhanced version of the Galaxy S2, called the Galaxy S2 Plus, which was doing the rounds. The rumours thinned out as soon as they had arisen, and this so called improved device was not heard of since then.

Japanese tech blog RBMen has reported that a device model-numbered GT-i9105 with a UK location, has appeared in the AnTuTu benchmarks database, with a maximum CPU frequency of 1456 MHz, clocking an overall score of 7458. The results also seem to indicate the presence of a PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU, and the presence of a dual-core SoC.

While there is no other information available on this device, it might be a little too late in the  day to release a Galaxy S2 variant, considering that the Galaxy S3 has been out and about for some time now followed by the Galaxy Note 2. But then again, given the kind of popularity the Galaxy S2 enjoyed, and possibly continues to enjoy, an improved variant might just work out well to fill in the gaps.
