Galaxy S II (S2) gets CyanogenMod 7 Music App

We just shared the CyanogenMod 7’s SMS application for your Samsung Galaxy S II moments ago and now guess what, there is one more app from the ultimate custom ROM that you simply won’t be able to say NO to — it’s the CM7 Music App, and coupled with the DSP Manager app, it’s just awesome. What this MOD means is increase in bass that is louder and clearer. Thanks to Risq for this hack.

What you need:

  1. Rooted Galaxy S II (S2)
  2. App with Root Explorer function. Use either $3.87 costing Root Explorer or the free app, File Expert.

Here’s how to Install CyanogenMod 7 Music App and DSP manager:

Part I – Backup the original music app

You can do this using the root explorer function supporting app (either of the above two). Instructions:

1.Load Root Explorer. Go into System -> apps
2.Scroll down till you see the music player.apk file.
3.Select and hold down until a pop up appears.
4.Select “Rename””. Add .bak to the file, so it reads music player.apk.bak.
5.Select the file again as above, but now select move.
6.Press the back key until you go back to the system root (/) and then go go the SDcard folder.
7.Select Paste. You now have your original player backed up and safe if you wish to revert.

Part II – Installing Music App and DSP manager App

Download these two files:

Install the above two files. That’s it.

  5. well, it’s working, but is there any way to make it behave like the music app in cm7? i mean the lock screen widget and especially the using of vol+ and – keys to change songs.

    1. Well I don’t know of any way to do that, but I’ll let you know if I find
      anything. Okay.

  11. (sorry new to smart phones)
I am using File Expert. I do not know how to get to the System ->Apps to find music player.apk. I did search for music player.apk, and found nothing, using File expert.

I managed to install DSP Manager, using CWM. But when I try to install Music App it says ” App not installed. ”
    Thanks
