Galaxy Note 8 price expected to be $1,000

Update [August 19]: Galaxy Note 8, as you may all know, will launch in three storage variants: 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 256GB onboard storage (for select markets). Now, a new leak coming in straight from China suggests that each of these variants will set you back by CNY 6,288 (approximately USD 945), CNY 7,088 (approximately USD 1065), and CNY 7,988 (approximately USD 1200) respectively.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated phones of the year, and we are only a week away from the official launch of the smartphone. For the unaware, Samsung will be launching its second flagship handset for the year aka the Galaxy Note 8 — successor to the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 — at an Unpacked event in New York on August 23.

The smartphone is rumored to bring along with it a bunch of new additions (in comparison to its predecessor) among which the bezel-free display or the Infinity Display as the company likes to call it will be one of the standout features of the device.

Akin to the Galaxy S8 and S8+ both of which were launched earlier this year, the Galaxy Note 8 will come with a full-screen display but with even slimmer bezels and an even higher screen-to-body ratio.

Another highlight feature of the Galaxy Note 8 will be the new dual camera setup on the back. In case you are wondering, yes, the Galaxy Note 8 will be the first ever Samsung phone to offer dual rear cameras. The smartphone, as per the rumors, will house two 12MP sensors (standard f/1.7 lens and a telephoto f/2.4 lens) on the back and an 8MP f/1.7 shooter at the front.

Then there’s the S Pen which has so far been the USP of the company’s Note series smartphones. Apart from the ones mentioned above, there are quite a few other features that you will see when the smartphone’s officially launched. We’ve clearly mentioned each one of them in a different post. You can take a look at it here.

Now, of course, with all these new additions the price of the handset will inevitably go high (of course). But, how high is the question that needs to be addressed?

Well, there’s no official confirmation from the company just yet. But, going by the rumors, the Galaxy Note 8 price could set you back by $1,000 at the very least. That’s a ridiculous price tag for a smartphone, isn’t it? This also means the Galaxy Note 8 will be the costliest smartphone Samsung has ever produced.

To give you a fair idea, last year’s Galaxy Note 7 was launched at $850 (varied from carrier to carrier) while this year’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ were priced at $750 and $850 (again, the price varies with the carrier you choose) respectively.

So, how many of you are willing to shell out such huge amount of money from your pocket? Do let us know in the comments section below.
