Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.1.2 Update (N7100XXDLJ2) spotted!

Samsung promised back in early 2012 that moving forward, they would have a much better focus on software, and that focus is showing quite strongly in Samsung lately. Not only do new Samsung devices like the Galaxy Note 2 and S3 come with some rather useful features, Samsung has also been quite busy in updating their devices to newer versions of Android.

We earlier saw Android 4.1.2 firmware leak for both the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3, and now images of Android 4.1.2 running on the Galaxy Note 2 have emerged on the XDA forums. Android 4.1.2 is mainly a performance and stability improving update, while also having a few other small changes, such as the ability to expand and collapse notifications with two finger swipes, and Samsung seems to be working on bringing the minor yet useful update to the Note 2 as well.

The build number of the firmware is XXDLJ2, and for now the firmware itself isn’t available, though we can expect that to change soon as someone leaks it for the community. Once that happens, we’ll be sure to let you know and also provide a step-by-step guide on how to install it on your Note 2.

Now, if only we knew when Android 4.2 is going to arrive. Judging by Samsung’s focus on software updates recently, I’d say we won’t have to wait too long. HTC and other manufacturers, are you watching this?
