Quick updates, be it monthly or software, aren’t one of Samsung’s strong traits. But seems the South Korean company is willing to change that. Samsung is streaming the latest monthly security patch updates to more and more of its devices irrespective of them being flagship, mid-range or entry level. The latest two devices to receive the updates are Galaxy Grand Prime and Galaxy Grand NEO Plus.
Samsung is rolling out the February security patch update to Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G530FQ) as build number G530FXXU1AQB2 while for Galaxy Grand NEO Plus (GT-i9060) the update arrives as build number I9060IXXU0AQAD.
The OTA update is on the roll as we speak. In case you haven’t received the update yet and are too impatient to wait, you can check for it manually by heading to Settings » About device » System Updates. However, before hitting the download button, ensure that your phone is over 50 percent charged and connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Launched in 2014, Galaxy Grand Prime originally was shipped with Android KitKat 4.4 OS which got upgraded to Lollipop and will likely remain at that. On the other hand, Galaxy Grand NEO Plus launched in the following year with Android Jelly Bean 4.2 software has been bumped up to KitKat 4.4.
Earlier today, the Galaxy J1 Mini and WiFi editions of Galaxy Tab A 9.7-inch and Tab A 8.0″ also started receiving the February security patch.
