How to Install Galaxy E5 TWRP Recovery

The Samsung Galaxy E5, which launched earlier in 2015 has had root via CF-Auto-Root. But there wasn’t any custom recovery available for the device until now. But thanks to developer jackeagle, we now have a working build of TWRP for Galaxy E5.

The recovery version stands at 2.8.7.0 and comes as a .tar file, which you can easily flash using Odin.

Galaxy E5 TWRP recovery by jackeagle is unofficial at the moment, but if all TWRP functions are working fine on the recovery, it should soon make it to the official repository at twrp.me.

Grab the TWRP recovery .tar file for Galaxy E5 from the download link below and flash it using Odin.

Note: Flashing a TWRP recovery will trip the KNOX counter on your device and hence void its warranty.

Also, if you’re running KitKat or Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware on your Galaxy E5, you should also be able to root it using SuperSU zip (follow the link below). But if you’re on Lollipop 5.1.1 firmware, then flashing the SuperSU zip may cause a bootloop on your device, so we would recommend you to NOT do so. For root on 5.1.1, look for a custom kernel with auto-root and permissive SELinux.
