Galaxy C7 Pro and C5 Pro 128GB variants spotted on TENAA

It has been a busy year for Samsung with the release of the 2017 iterations of Galaxy A series smartphones in January followed by Galaxy Tab S3 in February and launch of flagship smartphones Galaxy S8 and S8+ last month. And in between these major launches Samsung seems to have taken care of other segments viz the upper mid-range, but in a different way. Instead of coming out with brand new products, Samsung is playing it smartly by re-launching the same product by making slight changes here and there. And it is going to apply the same trick to the C series smartphones.

Early in the day, we discussed Samsung’s plan to release the Galaxy C9 Pro in 128GB variant. Once again, two more C series devices, the Galaxy C7 Pro and C5 Pro, with 128GB in built storage have appeared on TENAA, hinting that even these smartphones will be launched in new avatars with a new and improved storage option.

Galaxy C7 Pro has landed on TENAA with model number SM-C7018 and in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants while the original C7 Pro was released in January this year with only 64GB native storage. Other aspects have remain unchanged at 5.7 inches Super AMOLED display, 4GB RAM, 3300mAH battery. Powered by 2.2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 626 SoC, the phone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The phone flaunts a 16MP/16MP camera combo at the front and back.

As for the Galaxy C5 Pro, the TENAA listing shows it as model number SM-C5018 with three storage options which are 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. Notably, the original C5 Pro was launched last month with 64GB inbuilt storage. And even here, other features have been kept intact which include 5.2 inches Super AMOLED display, 2.2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 626 SoC, and 2600mAH battery. Another variation is seen in the OS. While the original C5 Pro is shipped with Android 7.0 Nougat, the new device runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Samsung’s strategy to release different variants of a successful smartphone is a well thought out plan. But how well will these variations of Galaxy C7 Pro and C5 Pro be received by customers, we will have to wait and see.

  1. both r great devices but r priced too high for the specs, maybe this is bcoz of the brand name but 26k for SD626 is too much!!

    1. Octacore with 4GB ram and a big battery. Top it off with beautiful design. Worth it. 🙂

    2. Doesn’t look as stylish as the S8, but definitely a nice device
