Freecharge app introduces Nearby feature and revamps My transaction

The wallet and recharge app, Freecharge, has received a new update that bumps the version from 8.0.9 to 8.1.0. The new update revamps the transaction history screen and introduces the “Nearby” feature.

Since more and more users are shifting towards digital payment, the app makes it easy for the user to locate the nearby merchants that accept payment via Freecharge. To my delight, it not only lists the big merchants but even small merchants near you. Recently, its competitor PayTM also introduced this feature.

Also, other than listing the merchants that accept Freecharge, the app also shows the merchants on the map making it easy to locate the merchant. Furthermore, you can navigate to the merchant using the built in “Navigate” option. Of course, Freecharge uses Google Maps for the same.

In addition to that, the “My Transactions” screen has also been redesigned. The new update provides more details about the old transactions. Moreover, the transactions are now grouped under three tabs: All, Money in and Money out. The tabs are self-explanatory. Plus, in order to avoid the confusion, the “My transaction” screen also lists the total wallet balance, which was earlier missing.

  2. I have never really been a fan of PayTM, but the majority of merchants tend to use it. I was waiting for this update for a long time now, when PayTM launched it back in November. Thanks for the heads up, Android Soul. 🙂
