First Moto Z2 Play image leaks

We might soon see a sequel to Motorola’s last year premium smartphone with a beast battery. Yes, we are talking about the Moto Z Play and its successor reportedly dubbed as Moto Z2 Play. A leaked image of the Moto Z2 Play has surfaced online for the first time showing the device from almost all angles, thus giving us a good look at what Motorola plans to bring in the Moto Z Play’s successor.

First reported by Technobuffalo, the Moto Z2 Play image looks like an exact replica of its predecessor, barring the a minor design change. The Moto Z Play’s square button has been replaced with a rounded one in Moto Z2 Play, something we have seen Motorola bring to Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus.

Motorola has not only redesigned the home button but has endowed it with additional functions. The rounded home button on Moto Z2 Play will act as a fingerprint scanner as well as on-screen navigation buttons with support for swiping gestures.

Moto Z2 Play has maintained the sleek design and thin frame of Moto Z Play with a shimmering gold trim. The rear camera maintains the hump look while the front facing camera comes with a flash.

The leaked image shows the date of June 8th on its screen, which could be the date Motorola has planned for its release. But we would still advise you to take this news with a pinch of salt and wait for an official confirmation from Motorola.

  1. It looks exactly like its predecessor most likely so that it still supports the Z’s mods I guess

  2. Not much changes in the looks department. I hope, the mods become more affordable this time around and have more variety too.

  4. well this phone looks better than the Moto Z play, there r only minor changes like the removal of that ugly square fingerprint scanner and instead got that oval shaped one same as on G5 plus, there is still headphone jack which is great to see, noticed that minor depression at the bottom and the placement of front camera and flash gives it a more symmetrical look but the upper and lower chins r still big and so as the bezels, Moto should really improve on that!!

    1. They can’t change much physically otherwise they’ll not be compatible with the earlier released mods and they’ll have to release a revised version to be compatible with the new models

  7. With the release of the S8, I have seen lists that feature the OP3,the S8,the S7,the pixels and the iphones as the top phones in the market. Pretty sad that the moto Z never gets featured. Motorola does make some pretty great phones for every price range.

  9. Although I’ve heard great things about the original Moto Z Play, I’d still rather buy the Samsung Galaxy S8 at that price.

  11. I understand how the design language cannot change since they need to support the old mods but the front of the phone needed an overhaul with the way it looks. Nothing much to differentiate with the g5 and g5 plus which are 10k cheaper.
