Although Samsung released “Exynos 9 series” when it launched Galaxy S8 and S8+ in March, the proper nomenclature for 9 series was yet to be followed since the processor found in Galaxy S8 was called Exynos 8895.
However, that is about to change. A tipster has revealed that Samsung is working on a new System-On-Chips (SoC) that goes by the moniker Exynos 9610. Slated for release in the Q4 2017, Exynos 9610 could be Samsung’s answer to Qualcomm’s recently launched Snapdragon 660 processor.
Samsung’s new chip, Exynos 9610, is said to have similar performance to the Snapdragon 660. According to the tipster, Exynos 9610 could feature four Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores coupled with the Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. Further, it is said to be manufactured using 14nm LPP manufacturing process and will also have Netcom baseband modem Cat.13.
On the other hand, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 features eight Kryo cores coupled with Adreno 512 GPU manufactured using 14nm process. In the 8 cores, four cores are clocked at 2.2GHz while the other four are clocked at 1.8GHz.
