XWJVB — New Leaked Official Android 2.3.3 ROM for Galaxy S

UPDATE: We will keep updating this page for other XWJVB stuff — ROMs, Mods, Hacks, Root, etc — as and when they get posted. So, keep watching this space, exciting stuff coming soon.

  • How to Root XWJVB using Chainfire’s method.
  • More links to be added later, when available………

The first Android 2.3.3 ROM for Galaxy S — XXJVK — was leaked in the March end and it was being said that the official roll-out would begin sometime in mid-April, Well, today, April 15 falls in line with that and we’ve a new Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) ROM out, called XWJVB. The ROM has been leaked with two versions, one with_bootloaders and other without_bootloaders — just like JVK versions.

We know you’re curious about the difference between the JVK and JVB, so are we, but hold on till we take a deep dive into the new ROM and find out what’s changed, for good and worse!

Here is more info about the XWJVB:

  • PDA: XWJBV
  • MODEM: XXJVK
  • CSC: NEEJV3 or XEEJV3

We don’t know this for sure but it’s being said XWJVB is the final Gingerbread release Samsung would distribute through Kies. So, if you want to play it very safe, wait — if you can — for Sammy to send it to you via Kies. We would suggest you to check for update using Kies — with any luck to boot, it might be already available to you by now.

For those who don’t get it via Kies and are keen to get it before Sammy throws it out for them, we will shortly put up the installation guide for installing XWJVB, so keep watching this space.

Update: Get the full step-by-step installation guide with video at this post of ours — How to Install XWJVB on Galaxy S.

  1. Hi, I have the XXJVK installed after following your installation process. When you put up instructions for this new ROM XWJVB, how do I unroot to allow me to install this one please??
Also, will I lose all of my settings, programmes, apps etc?

    Thanks

    1. Yes, flashing the new ROM, XWJVB will cause loss of all the data. Since, you’re rooted, Titanium backup app (free) will work for you, so, take backup of all apps (with data) using the app. When on XWJVB, first root that too (we’ll post ‘how to root XWJVB’ soon) and then use titanium backup to restore all the apps with data. this would be fine. As regards contacts, sync them with Google. Other data, that is, Bookmarks, APN settings, etc use another free app, backup master. from android market to take the backup (untick the applications option therein because you’ve done that already with titanium backup, and that too with data.

      Cool?
