Motorola may not be releasing a Marshmallow update for its 1st Gen Moto G, but you can still install it on your Moto G using a custom ROM. We’ve provided some ROMs below that will upgrade your Moto G to Android 6.0 right away.
Because these are not official updates from Motorola, the ROMs may have some bug here or there. But because they are based on latest Android OS, 6.0, they are worth a try.
Let’s check out the various custom ROMs which will update your device to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Moto G Marshmallow Update
- Moto G 1st Gen, codename falcon
- Don’t try this on any other device whose codename is different than the one specified above.
1. CyanogenMod 13 (CM13, Official)
2. CyanogenMod 13 (CM13, Unofficial)
7. Resurrection Remix
How to Install
Well, download the ROM of your choice from above first. Then check the link below to guide on installing a custom ROM.
Be sure to also download and install Marshmallow Gapps linked below as these contain Google Apps like Play Store, Maps, etc. that are missing in the ROMs by default.
