LG has been quick to roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its G3, the flagship of the year 2014. The G3 Marshmallow update carries the software build of 30B, and we have got hold of the firmware file in KDZ format, plus the TWRP flashable ZIP files to help you manually update to Android 6.0 right away.
For those who are new to the system of manual installation of an update, well, know that you can either install the firmware on your device using LG’s update software Flashtool for this, or install the custom ROM based on firmware using TWRP recovery.
We’ve got both the Marshmallow KDZ for G3, installable via LG Flashtool software, and the ZIP files for system, boot, modem, etc. all of which are to be installed using custom recovery like TWRP.
The G3 Marshmallow KDZ file is only for 16GB variants. So if you own a 32GB G3, don’t use this, and wait for the 32GB’s own Marshmallow KDZ to appear. We’ll update this page when that happens.
As regards TWRP flashable ZIP files, well, they are fully compatible with both 16GB and 32GB variants of LG G3.
Note: This is only for model no. D855 of LG G3.
- KDZ file (for 16GB only): G3 Marshmallow KDZ v30B
- ZIP files (for both 16GB and 32GB):
How to install Marshmallow update
Well, you have to decide which method you want to use.
If you want to use LG’s firmware, then go for the KDZ file. Use the software like LG Flashtool for this. Download LG Flashtool from here, and if you need help, use the guide provided there for G4 — the procedure is same for your G3 too.
Another way to update is using custom recovery like TWRP. This works for both 16GB and 32GB G3 devices. Download the ZIP files (system, modem and boot) from above, and install them using TWRP recovery, one-by-one, using recovery’s Install menu. Reboot thereafter (select No when it asks to install SuperSU) and you’re done. By the way, download and install LG G3 TWRP here.
That’s it. Your LG G3 will be updated to Marshmallow.
LG G3 Marshmallow root
Well, download the SuperSU file from above, and install it using TWRP.
If you want to fix the oversharpening issue on G3, then download the file provided above and flash it using TWRP.
