Google Docs Official Android App Launched by Google

Hey Google Docs fans! today is your lucky day. Google has just released an android application for its online productivity suite, Google Docs and as it you’ve already guess, it’s named Google Docs. So, if you’re pretty much invested in the Google’s online tool, just download the ‘Google Docs’ for android for free and give it a ride.

As for what the application will do and what it won’t do, here’s the market description that nicely pens down app’s features:

Designed for Android to save you time finding your docs
Edits to your documents appear to collaborators in seconds
Make quick changes to spreadsheets
View your documents, PDFs, images and more.
Upload and convert files to the Google Docs format
Take a photo of printed text and convert it to a Google document
Share docs with your phone’s contacts

Although one can edit the documents and do pretty much most of the work using the incredible web-app for Google Docs for mobile browsers, still, having an app will further smoothen the process and overall usability. I know many of you rely heavily on Google’s free online tool, so Google Docs is gonna be a huge hit in my opinion.

It was obvious to see the normal editing functions and collaboration facilities being supported by the app but what makes the app even cool is the decently laid out User Interface (UI) with support for multiple accounts and use of swipe to jump from one screen to another — for example, to surf between docs folders. Moreover, the ‘Google Apps’ accounts are fully supported by the app, too.

Oh, by the way, do try to print a document and you’ll be greeted by Google Cloud Print — which is very nice.

But still, as with other heavy stuff mobile apps, don’t expect it to be anywhere near replacing your desktop browser’s Google Docs. But when you’re mobile and wanna have a quick look at the online file of yours, Google Docs for android will be the best tool to help you out quick and easy.

Try out the Google Apps and let us know what do you think about the app. How’s it helping you and what features you badly miss and would want in the next update?
