Look here, it’s CyanogenMod 9 for the Droid 3. We’ve been waiting impatiently for some Ice Cream Sandwich based AOSP ROM to arrive for the Droid 3, and here we have it ─ the CM9, which is based on Andoid 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Developer Hashcode, optimized the build for running on OMAP4 processors using CM9/AOSP sources. Here’s what he posted at XDA:
An OMAP4 optimized build using CM9/AOSP sources. I used some of the published Moto Source from D3 and RAZR where I felt it was appropriate to get the low level services running.
Current Status of CyanogenMod 9 (ICS) for Droid 3 [30/11/2011]
As is the case with any other CM9/ICS build, this one for the Droid 3, is also in its very early versions so it isn’t a daily driver. Below’s what’s working and what’s not.
- HW Accelerated Graphics (RenderScript apps will have issues — like Web Browser)
- 3G Data / Phone
- SD Cards
Phew! that’s pretty huge list of non-working things.
Anyway, if you happen to own a Droid 3 and want the CM9 ROM to get ready for daily use asap. Then please support the development by testing and reporting bugs, or even help the developer with some coding (if you know this stuff, obviously), and yeah don’t forget to donate the developers for their hard work.
