Convert .IMG file to .TAR Odin Flashable file using Odin Packager Android app

This should bring smiles to many Samsung users. It often happens that a developer shares .img file for the TWRP recovery that’s flashable via adb with root or with Flashify app, but not via Odin and that’s what you need when your device isn’t rooted already.

Well, developer AndroidFire has you covered with his new open source Odin Packager app. The app has a simple material designed interface with only one option, that is to convert .img images into .tar  Odin flashable files.

Download the Odin Packager .apk file from the link above and install it normally like you’d install any other apk. The app requires root access and busybox installed to do its job, but a Samsung device isn’t a requirement. You could run this app on any Android device to convert IMG files to TAR (Odin supported).

How to use the app
  1. Install / Open OdinPackager on your Android device.
  2. Tap on the textarea where a editing cursor is flashing.
  3. Select the .img file you want to convert to Odin flashable .tar.
  4. Grant root access to the app when it asks.
  5. Done. Your .tar image will be ready inside the same folder where the .img file was saved.

That’s all. Nifty little app, it’s now anyone’s job to convert an IMG file into Odin flashable TAR file.
