Another score for Codename Android (CNA), an AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 based ROM that has been gaining ground in the past few months, thanks to its fast performance and customization options along with its fully open source nature which lets developers put it on a lot of different devices. The Galaxy Note has also got a port of Codename Android, so you can enjoy Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 on your Note with the performance and customization of CNA included.

The ROM is in its early development stages and is currently a work in progress, so there are bugs and issues present in the ROM, which should be ironed out as development goes on, but at this point, it is a beta ROM that may or may not work the way its intended to.

Read on to find out how you can flash Codename Android ROM on your Galaxy Note.

  3. This procedure will wipe all your apps, data and settings (but it will NOT touch your SD cards, so don’t worry about those). Backup your Apps and important data — bookmarks, contacts, SMS, APNs (internet settings), etc. This Android backup guide would help you.

How to Install Codename Android ROM on Galaxy Note:

  2. Download the AOSP v05 ROM. This is needed to be flashed before flashing CNA ROM.
    Download Link  |  Filename: aospgn05.zip
  3. Transfer the files downloaded in step 1 and 2 to your internal sdcard (NOT the external micro SD).
  4. Turn off your phone, then boot into Clockworkmod recovery (CWM).
  5. Perform a wipe:
    1. Select wipe data/factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm. Wait a while till the data wipe is complete.
    2. Select wipe cache then select Yes on next screen to confirm.

  8. After the installation is complete, select “go back” then select “reboot system now” to reboot the phone.
