HP’s tablet, the TouchPad was launched at time when most of the major manufacturers were also releasing or about to release their own Android based tablets, and a lot of these competitors boasted better specs and performance than the Touchpad. But guess what, folks who still went ahead and got themselves one, have one more great reason to be excited about!!!
After releasing CM7, the CyanogenMod Team has released Alpha-0 of CM9 for the HP TouchPad. And since CM9 is based on Ice Cream Sandwich, TouchPad owners are all set to get a flavour of Android 4.0 or ICS on their devices soon.
Keep in mind though that it is an Alpha-o ROM, meaning that it is still under heavy development, and one should expect a lot of bugs. It is definitely not in a state yet to be suitable for daily usage, but you could still test it out, if you want to have a look at how ICS feels on your TouchPad. As the status suggests (Alpha-0), there is hardware-accelerated video, zero camera, and zero support, so don’t expect everything to work .
The CyanogenMod team has also been gracious enough to release all the CM9 source code for the HP Touchpad. So, if you want, you can build CM9 from scratch all by yourself!!
