BLU R1 HD update brings VoLTE support for T-Mobile and latest Android security patches

The users of BLU R1 HD have reported receiving a new firmware update. The update brings a couple of new features to the device.

Arriving as firmware version BLU_R0010UU_V8.3_GENERIC_6.0_20170414-2043, the new update installs the latest Android security patch. Another major feature added by the update is the VoLTE support for T-Mobile users of BLU R1 HD.

Weighing at 333.47 MB, the update is being rolled out over the air as we speak. As such, it may take a while to reach your device. If waiting is not your thing, you can manually check for the update by heading to Settings > About device > System updates.

Before hitting the download button, ensure that your BLU R1 HD is at least 50 percent charged and connected to a WiFi network for seamless installation.

Featuring a 5-inch IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top, BLU R1 HD was launched last year in June. It is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6735 SoC and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Under the hood, the phone carries either 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM or 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. There’s an 8 MP primary camera with autofocus, LED flash and 5 MP front camera for clicking selfies. A 2500 mAh battery keeps the lights on.

  1. BLU makes some really affordable devices with premium specs, it’s like Xiaomi for the US markets and they r fast with updates too, that’s good for the business if the want to survive the increasing competition in the smartphone market!!

  3. Warning! I downloaded this update this morning, and both “Zombies Run” and the Dunkin Donuts Perks app disappeared; the Google Play Store now says of both apps “Your device isn’t compatible with this version”.

  5. I suspect this update makes the phone non-rootable. I’m stuck with the amazon offers and ads.
