AT&T SkyRocket Specs — it’s AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S II with 4G LTE Support

AT&T is launching another Galaxy S II device, called the Skyrocket, a variant of Galaxy S II LTE. It adds 4G LTE support to already very impressive spec-sheet — which includes 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and 1.5GHz dual-core processor to boot — of ubiquitously adored Galaxy S II, and is one of the two LTE android phones carrier has planned for November 6 launch, the other being HTC Vivid.

We know AT&T’s LTE network hasn’t been launched widely, and is limited to a small bunch of cities only, but AT&T is on course to expand its LTE coverage and is betting on these two genuinely supreme device to march its war with Verizon and its LTE phones — which are hell-impressive, too: the Motorola Droid RAZR, Google’s Samsung-made Galaxy Nexus and HTC Rezound.

War of LTE phones, isn’t it? And Android’s the platform on both sides, and it isn’t surprising at all.

Anyway, Here are the Specifications, Price and Release date of AT&T Galaxy S II, the SkyRocket:

  1. this article is completely wrong on this being AT&T’s first Galaxy S II. Please get better reporting if you are a android blog.

    1. Damn right you are….. sry dude — correcting it… Converting the post to draft now.

    2. Hey, done! Thnx for bringing it up 😀

  2. 4.5 not 4.65 screen

  3. I
know a lot of people (including me) are excited for the two new LTE phones that
are coming to AT&T. I am particularly excited for the Galaxy Skyrocket.
What I think will sell these phones is the fact that they are going to be
running on AT&T’s new LTE network. That should make it perfect for
streaming movies and shows to these phones. I use the DISH Remote Access app
from my employer DISH Network to stream my shows and movies to my phone. I like
this app because it lets me stream recorded shows and even live TV to my phone
anywhere I am. I would really like to see how the LTE network handles
    streaming. It should be fantastic!

  4. Been trying to talk myself out of upgrading my iPhone 3GS to a 4S. Just returned a Bionic to Verizon. Nice phone, but there’s something hosed with the LTE service on that phone that causes it to keep flipping back and forth from LTE to 3G, but the handoff seems so lousy that I keep getting no data services.
Anyway, stopped by the AT&T store to look at the Galaxy II and was thinking about picking one of them up to try. The guy says “come back tomorrow and you can get the Skyrocket”. So I’m pretty excited about that (plus AT&T has a 30 day trial period as opposed to Verizon’s 14-day trial).
One thing your review doesn’t mention is that the Skyrocket has an 800 by 480 display. That’s a bit low by today’s high end phone standards. Seems to be its only spec issue. Other than that, the one the guy took out of the back to show me (but could/would not sell me today) is a very nice, light phone.
