AT&T Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Android 5.1.1 Root (build G920AUCU3BOI2 and G925AUCU3BOI2)

Update: AT&T Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge both now have root access available thanks to launch of Auto Root kernel by developer Manh_IT. Look below for the how to guide of ours to root your device now.

If you installed Android 5.1.1 update on your AT&T Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge, whether via OTA or using 5.1.1 Odin TAR firmware, then you must have lost root access now. And because you are checking this article, we have totally good reason to believe: you. want. root. So right, isn’t it?

But the bad, bad news is that there ain’t no root access available right now for your buddy Galaxy S6/S6 Edge at AT&T right now. Damn it, but it’s the truth.

Both G920AUCU3BOI2 root and G925AUCU3BOI2 root are a long shot right now, however disappointing it may feel.

We have our eyes hooked to Internet and certain webpages where should appear whenever it does, so all you have to do is check this page back often, say once every two weeks.

Frankly put, AT&T being AT&T, chances are pretty slim of successful Android 5.1.1 root coming out for Galaxy S6 SM-G920A and Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925A anytime soon.

If you want to keep an eye on things yourself, let us recommend you some of the pages to keep looking at — but don’t ask the developers out for root, pls! — for Android 5.1.1 root of your device.

These are basically kernel pages, for all the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge sets, where a unified kernel is shared. Obviously, those sets at AT&T, Verizon, etc. have been left out rather unwillingly as these two carriers lock down the bootloader of their device, thus blocking such development and root access.

Here are certain pages where AT&T Android 5.1.1 root could appear:

  • UniKernel — by g.lewarne, this kernel brought the root access to global and T-Mobile Galaxy S6 sets
  • Arter97 kernel

That’s it.

Just keep an eye on this page, as we will update it as and when root is released for Android 5.1.1 firmware for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

  7. Why so as they get the root for at&t 5.1.1 they will release marshmallow 6.0 update

    1. Duh because it might be this time next year before at&t gets around to updating to marshmallow want the benefits of root now not when I’m ready to upgrade
