Asus Zenfone C launched in India for INR 5,999 ($96)

Asus has launched its new low-cost Android smartphone in India today, called the ZenFone C. The new phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat OS with Asus Zen UI layer on top.

The Asus Zenfone is an entry level handset. It sports a 4.5 inch FWVGA TN Panel display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels resolution. The device is powered by a 1.2 Ghz Intel CloverTrail processor with quad thread Hyper Threading Technology alongside 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 64GB through a micro SD card.

Coming to the camera, it features a 5MP rear camera with PixelMaster technology and a 0.3MP camera graces its front. According to Asus, the camera captures up to 400% brighter photos at night, without even needing a flash! The smartphone is backed by a 2100mAh removable battery which states to offer up to thirty hours of 3G talk time and over ten days of standby.

Connectivity options on the device include 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi Direct, GPS, A-GPS and GLONASS. Also, the Asus Zenfone C comes with SonicMaster audio which can reportedly deliver an output voltage that is 25% greater than competing smartphones. Well, it will definitely be facing tough competition from Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Lenovo A6000 and the Motorola Moto E.

The Zenfone C is available at Rs 5,999 in 3 colors – red, white and black on Flipkart. You can also get it offline on Asus exclusive stores from February 18th.
