The Asus ZenFone AR was announced alongside of the Zenfone 3 Zoom back in January with high-end specs such as a 5.7-inch, Quad HD Super AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM, a 3,300mAh battery, and an 8MP selfie camera with a motion-sensing camera, depth-sensing camera, and 23MP main camera on the back cover.
Tech enthusiasts love seeing devices put through benchmark studies to see just what the devices are made of (whether claims such as 8GB are really 8GB or 7.5GB, for example). The Asus ZenFone AR has stopped by GFXBench, showing us what the device is made of.
The Asus ZenFone AR features a 5.7-inch display with a 2,560 x 1,440p screen resolution (which is Quad HD). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC is present here, a formidable one considering the 820 was featured in a number of last year’s Android flagships. It was originally said that the Zenfone AR would feature the Snapdragon 821 SoC, but that isn’t the case.
The 23MP back camera (the main one of the three) appears as a 21MP shooter over at GFXBench, and the 8GB of RAM appears as 5.6GB of RAM there. This isn’t surprising though, as GFXBench listings often show inaccurate information. 112GB of storage is on the ZenFone AR, meaning that 128GB of storage comes out of the box (keep in mind that the OS, Android 7.0 Nougat, plus Asus’s own Zen UI, the UI overlay of choice, will also bite into the pre-installed storage).

GFXBench benchmarks are good to see, if only to appease the minds of those who want to know what constitutes the device they’re interested in buying. The one thing ZenFone AR fans want to see is how it provides an augmented reality experience. To get that, though, Americans will have to wait until it launches this summer. Taiwanese buyers may get their hands on the device sooner rather than later.
