Android 7.0 Nougat update released for Asus Zenfone 3 [OTA rolling out]

Update [January 10, 2017]: Asus Zenfone 3 model ZE520KL also getting the Nougat update.

The Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) from Asus just for its Android 7.0 Nougat released, something we know is about to happen as some screenshots got leaked out a while ago, giving us ample hint of things to come. And while Asus may not have beaten the likes of HTC, LG and Huawei, at least it released its first stable Nougat update before the Android heavyweight, Samsung, who is yet to come with stable Nougat build for Galaxy S7.

Asus hasn’t confirmed which of its Zenfone 3 variants are up for Nougat, but from the looks of it, we guess it’s only the regular Zenfone 3 that is getting Nougat OTA rolled out today, while the Zenfone 3 Laser, Deluxe, Zoom, Max, Ultra, etc. variants would have to wait for their turn for now.

Asus has a bad track history for updating its Zenfone devices on time with some even lagging the mainstream updates by as much as 6 months and more. Moreover, it’s high time Asus caught up to the rest of the competition which has already got their flagships on track with Android 7.0 Nougat.
