The Huawei Watch which was one of the few smartwatches to have been in the Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview is finally getting the update. Launched back in 2015 and running on the Snapdragon 400 with 512MB of RAM, the Huawei Watch has plenty of power to run the latest update smoothly.
The second iteration of Android Wear now sports a darker look and feel to it. With the new update you can also run apps directly from the smartwatch instead of having to rely on Bluetooth tethering.
Android Wear 2.0 will feature a native Play Store app which will let you download smartwatch specific apps. The update will also enable an on-screen keyboard, for those times when you need to reply in a jiffy. Update: You won’t be able to make payments using Android Pay though, because the Huawei Watch doesn’t come an NFC chip inside.

Along with much more optimized notifications, quick replying and the integration of the Google Assistant, the Huawei Watch will definitely hold more value than it did with the current firmware. Overall, Android Wear 2.0 seems like a very solid update bringing in much needed features and options without having to buy a new watch.

The new updates unlock the NFC on the watch. Which have been dormant for two years…. Yes…. Makes perfect sense
