Android 4.2 device Occam descried on benchmark app again. Popping out of Korea this time around

A mysterious device code named Occam, running what can be clearly seen as Android 4.2, has appeared again in the AnTuTu benchmark test results again, and this time indicates a Korean locale. This is not the first time this particular device has shown up in benchmark results. It had appeared earlier, a couple of weeks ago, with a Belgian location signature on the same bench results, running Android 4.2.

While it was assumed at the time, that it could possibly be a Motorola manufactured Nexus device under testing, owing to the code-name Occam having reference to Occam’s Razor, and hence an oblique reference to Motorola’s Razr series. Google’s new stand of allowing multiple manufacturers to be a part of the Nexus program seemed to add some weight to that theory too. But that seems to be unlikely now, with the Korean locale signature indicating a Korean manufacturer? Samsung, LG, Pantech?

The benchmark results analysis seems to indicate the presence of a quad-core APQ8064, a.k.a the Snapdragon S4 Pro, which incidentally is being used in most of the super-specced phones being readied for 2013, namely the HTC J Butterfly, the LG Nexus 4, the Sony duo- codenamed Yuga and Odin, the Oppo Finder 5, and the Pantech EF525. One interesting thread across all of these phones, is that at least four out of six mentioned are coming with a FullHD 1080p display.

With Korean giants, Samsung and LG supposedly readying phones with 1080p displays for 2013, and the Korean location popping up on benchmark results for the Occam, could this be one of theirs? Perhaps the Samsung Galaxy S4, or a new upgraded version of the Optimus G by LG? The possibilities are endless in the Android world, and one can  never be sure till the last moment. But what we can be certain about, is that 2013 is going to be a very exciting year, with some very exciting, top-quality phones coming our way.
