Folks among us who are lucky enough to be savoring Android 4.2 goodness on their Nexus devices, would probably have checked out our report on the 11-month bug that was recently discovered in Android 4.2- the latest flavor of Jelly Bean.

Users on Android 4.2, trying to add an event to a contact via the default Peothere ple app, reported that the system did not show a December month at all, and skipped straight over to January. Adding the same event for December via the calendar app seemed to work fine, though. But this meant, that users who had a bunch of contacts with events added for December were likely to suddenly start appearing forgetful.

Of course, this kink was reported on the official Android 4.2 bug tracker, and was also acknowledged by Google, with a lot of people hoping that a fix would be out before the end of this month, or rather before the non-existent December started.

If you’re using a Nexus device which you have recently updated to Android 4.2, and if you were worried that your friends with December birthdays and anniversaries would think you have developed short term memory loss, you can breathe easy now.

The official Google+ Android account has just confirmed that they are aware of the bug, and that users need not worry about an impending crack in relationships with contacts who have much to celebrate in December. Here’s the official statement from the Android team, posted on their Google+ account:

We discovered a bug in the Android 4.2 update, which makes it impossible to enter December events in optional fields of the People app (this bug did not affect Calendar). Rest assured, this will be fixed soon so that those of you with December birthdays and anniversaries won’t be forgotten by your friends and family.

If you were thinking of restoring back to Android 4.1.2, this should be reason enough for you to hold off and continue enjoying all of the other joys that Android 4.2 has to offer. After all, its the season to forgive, and this is a small issue, and an acknowledged one at that. So stay cool, and watch out for that patch on your notifications bar

Google might want to specifically fix this bug with an update…and might follow it up with another larger maintenance update which addresses other performance related issues

will the patch include the battery drainage problem? so many fail on this update..
