Android 4.1 Update for Samsung Galaxy S2 and Note to arrive in March!
Owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2 may have rejoiced when Samsung announced it would be updating both devices to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean in November last year, time has flown since then and excitement has turned into bitter impatience, as the update has still not begun rolling out officially. There were a couple of leaked Jelly Bean firmware for both devices in the last few months, but the final update has refused to show up even as the first month of 2013 is already over.
However, now we may actually have a real and official date for the updates thanks to Samsung’s Ukraine website, which mentions that the update to both devices will come out in March this year, starting from the first day of the month for the Galaxy Note and two days later for the Galaxy S2. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S Advance will apparently be receiving the update from 18th February, and then the Galaxy Ace 2 will follow from April 22nd.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is a rather important update as most know, bringing along improvements such as a fast and smooth interface thanks to Project Butter enhancements, expandable and actionable notifications, automatic relevant info via Google Now info cards and many more; the update will also bring along a totally new TouchWiz interface as found on the Galaxy S3, with features such as S Voice, Direct Call, Pop Up Play video et al.
Of course, this is only the time schedule for Ukraine so provided these self-imposed deadlines are met by the company, it will be a couple of months before the update completes its rollout in all countries. It’s been too long of a wait for the update already, so here’s hoping Samsung is able to release the update no later than April.
